Hey, I didn’t see you there welcome to Headgraphics.net, my name is Patrick Yurick. Today I want to talk to you about a futuristic supermarket and the technologies that may or may not have an effect on our future But first:

“A supermarket, but not as we know it” By Steve Rosenberg
Summation: In the western part of Germany, a town called Toenisvorst, is Germany’s new Future Store. In this supermarket shoppers are greeted with several innovations.
These include:
• A robotic shopping assistant named roger who tells you all about the innovations in the market.
• With you camera phone you can take pictures of barcodes as you shop and at the check out counter your shopping experience will be made that much shorter as you hand your phone to the automated teller that will ring you up based on your cell pics.
• Based on what you are scanning with your phone, as you shop, your phone will alert you to savings and things that you are looking for.
• Much much more.
Positive connection:
Technology is the devil. That is why I am going to delete this blog and destroy my Mac book. I also will not be buying the iphone 3G I was planning on purchasing after July 11th. (yay – PR for apple!)
Technology is not the devil, but it does engage our interest into what is called clever. When a supermarket like the one above is introduced the reactions from people vary. Some people I know would think this was “cool” while others would be horrified at the radical changes being introduced. “Why can’t it be more old-fashioned” one might say. My stance is that one should always engage change with conscious caution. Technology will not hurt you, but you can hurt you. An over reliance and dependency on technology and advancements that push you further away from a direct source of life (i.e. the environment, outdoor activities, the sun) can lead towards an unnatural living style that is derived from third-party living. This could mean that you are seeking out socializing through a computer. Or that you are staying inside and watching a documentary on the wilderness instead of going outside for a walk in the woods. The glamorous illusions will never compare to the natural wonders of this world. Prove me wrong.
As for this supermarket. Mankind has recently, in the past hundred years frown very reliant on the grocery store and other technological achievements for survival. I fear, sometimes, what would happen to me and those around me if these things were ripped out of our lives. I am trying to take steps to bring myself closer to living off of natural sources. This article reminded me of that.
Word of the day: Technology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology
However, a strict definition is elusive; “technology” can refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines, hardware or utensils, but can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples include “construction technology”, “medical technology”, or “state-of-the-art technology”.
Well I hope you learned something, I know I did. Have an enlightening day, I hope I’ll see you again!
